There is so much to do and see around Denali National Park you may need to plan on 2 or 3 nights to make the most of your visit.

Some activities can wait until you’ve arrived to make reservations; others might sell out months in advance. Our best recommendation is if you see something you want to do, make your reservation as soon as you can to not miss out!

Explore the Denali Park Road

Naturally, one of the top activities for most visitors is to get inside the park. Visitors are able to drive on their own the first fifteen miles of the Denali Park Road. Along the way there are rest stops to take pictures or go for short hikes. Once you get to Savage River the road is closed for use only by vehicles with a permit – leaving the options for visitors to either join a tour or transit bus.

The tour bus is narrated and guided with usually 2 – 3 departure options daily varying in length. The transit bus is transportation only and is used by those looking to get out and explore on your own. For more information and reservations visit the Denali National Park website for a link to the current concessionaire: https://www.nps.gov/dena/index.htm

See the Tallest Mountain from the Sky

Can you imagine being eye-to-eye with the tallest mountain in North America? You can do that on a Denali Summit Flight (link). This one-hour and fifteen-minute flight provides visitors a unique perspective of the tallest mountain that many visitors don’t get staying on the ground.

Go for a Hike or a Climb

There are a number of hiking trails in and around the entrance of Denali National Park. Some are short leisurely strolls, while others are a good 4 – 7 hours pending your physical level. More information on some of the available hikes can be found at: https://www.nps.gov/dena/planyourvisit/dayhiking.htm

Meet a Real Sled Dog

Did you know Denali National Park is the only national park where sled dogs are an important part of the team protecting the park and wilderness area? It is true, and you can meet these dogs and learn how the sled dogs and rangers work together to protect the park as they have since the early 1920’s. More info: https://www.nps.gov/dena/planyourvisit/kennels.htm

AND SO MUCH MORE!!!!

There really is so much more to do – rafting, biking, jeep and ATV excursions, fly fishing, zip line and even golf!

You can find a wealth of information on places to eat, where to shop, and other activities you can do in and around Denali National Park at the Denali Chamber of Commerce website, located here: www.denalichamber.com

We hope you enjoy your time in the Denali region!
